A Little Bit About Me...

Some students remember best what they see, some what they hear, but nearly all will best recall material that they see hear say and do something with. My teaching style is one that tries to incorporate seeing, hearing, saying, and doing and getting students to use higher order thinking skills as much as I can. More than just rote memory and recall, I want then to be able to apply acquired knowledge to solve problems or create new ideas based on their previous learning.
I have worked in both the public and private school settings and have 20 years teaching experience. I enjoy the most the opportunity to work with a child individually because that direct time and attention often makes it easier to assess areas of weakness and how best to adapt instruction to the learner's needs and learning style. From January 2010 to May 2010 I student taught at the McCluer high school in Florissant, Missouri in the Ferguson-Florissant district. I believe in differential teaching styles. Every student has the ability to learn, however every student's learning capabilities are all different. I was the Valedictorian at Hagerstown Junior/Senior High School in Hagerstown, Indiana. I received a full-tuition scholarship to the University of Evansville in Evansville, Indiana.
