I use a variety of teaching styles, until I find out a style that appeals to the student I am working with. Some students are visual, while others are kinesthetic like myself.
I have worked at Pulaski Technical College for 3 years tutoring several math and Science Courses. I love tutoring and enjoy assisting others in the pursuit of knowledge. I worked as a teachers assistant at Pulaski technical college for the head of the Biology department. I held a class that was not required but encouraged by the school to help the students in the biology course prepare for test and answer questions regarding labs. This class took place after the regular scheduled class and lab each week. I graduated with a 4.0 GPA at Pulaski Technical College and will graduate from University of Arkansas at Little Rock in December of 2014.

Math and Science Tutor

I'm currently finishing my junior year as a chemistry major at The University of Arkansas at Little Rock. My minor is biology. Chemistry is a demanding field that requires knowledge in science as well as mathematics. My degree requires several math classes along witn chemistry classes. Before I became a chemistry major I was a biology major. I've had courses in microbiology, zoology, and anatomy & physiology. I've worked as a teachers aide at my college and I've also tutored at my college. I've obtained a 3.7/4.0 GPA in my studies. Tutoring comes easy to me because I'm such a people's person. I get along great with kids especially. I'm a very vibrant and confident person which also helps my tutoring abilities. My plans after obtaining my bachelors degree in chemistry is to continue on to medical school and become a doctor.

I studied many different theories of learning while in psychology and fundamentally understand what it means to be a teacher. My teaching style allows the student to learn the material as independently as possible and improve their critical thinking skills, by asking the right type of questions and finding the student's best learning style. I am very patient and am willing to put forth the effort to make sure the student improves during our session.
I graduated from the University of Central Arkansas with a double major in Psychology and Philosophy. I also received a minor in Interdisciplinary studies through the Honor's College at UCA. A Little Bit About Me...

I have passion about teaching. I like to share my knowledge with other people and I believe it could be achieved by efficient communication.I am patient and humerous at times. When I teach I try to relate questions in the book to real world problems by giving numerous examples. I stronlgy believe that learning can be made easier if we teach students in a way that they enjoy it and apply to the real world situtations. I do not hesitate to give funny examples and logics so as to make them remember for a long time.
I received my BS in Environmental science in 2007 and minored in chemistry.Environmental science- biology track requires to have numerous biology courses. I show my students how to properly do a task or work through a problem and then I'll help them master the task or problem solution. It's important that my students can independently solve similar problems by using and adapting demonstrated methods. I am interested in encouraging student participation and adapting their presentation to include various learning styles. Students are expected to take some responsibility for learning what they need to know and for asking for help when they don't understand something. I typically design group activities which necessitate active learning, student-to-student collaboration and problem solving. I will often try to design learning situations and activities that require student processing and application of course content in creative and original ways.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have been involved in a lot of activities and feel the best way to teach is to relate to the student. As a tutor, I have worked with many different types of students and I found a way to relate the information to something they were interested in. I believe all students are capable of learning the material; it just has to be presented in a way they understand.
I received my BS degree in 2007 in pre-medicine. I majored in pre-professional zoology and I have a minor in biochemistry. Many students have had the Ben Stein type of teacher thru their math schooling, and don't know the subject for its logic-based simplicity. I believe and use a little theatrics, encouragement, and patience. With these, my students can be reached. These were traits my advisor looked for us to develop in our early starts as teachers. Smart man. I saw it countless times while at the board lecturing or during my office hours at the University - a dry presentation fails. At the end of the day, I know a student needs to pass, and in the grand scheme of things, just needs to be able to balance their checkbook, but if they can leave a math course and tackle, say, a Sudoku puzzle with confidence, then I have reached them.
Thanks to my honorable service in the U.S. Air Force, I've learned the invaluable benefits of hard-work, timeliness, respect, and discipline. I gained outstanding cu ... read more

My teaching style is whatever best fits the student. When working one on one with a student I practice a few different methods of teaching and whichever one they feel the most comfortable with and I receive the most attentiveness from, is the one that I continue to use. For example, some students prefer that you walk them through a lesson, go over a few practice problems and then let them work on assignments, knowing that they have you to assist them when needed. Others might want to jump into the assignment and when a question arises, they ask you to refer to the lesson to help them find the solution.

My first priorty to assist students in learning is developing a positive relationship with them, and then try to identify their strengths and weaknesses. From that point I can then begin to provide assistance and correction. One of the secrets or truths to student achievement is building their confidence and establishing high self-esteem traits toward achievement in that particular subject area.
