If you don't like the results, I haven't done my job.

All I do is tend to my students needs. I'm personal. Like to get off track with my students and lead them back to the point.
I won the state championship in the 100 meters and went to Adams State College in Alamosa CO. Broke a leg in track and received withdrawn F across the board. Left college and healed up. Went to the Army two years and reserve three years. Came back and picked up the quickest degree possiable. Moved to Hawwaii, three years. Became a ciritified dept of defense government contractor. Furnish and deliver contracts. Ended up moving back home to Albuquerque NM. I started working in the Indian Casinos for 13 years. I bought a house and retired. But now I'm tired of sitting around.

Most difficult subjects are so because of apprehensions or stigmas one might form throughout his/her experiences. I make learning fun and can break down mental barriers one might have by relating the abstract material to concrete real-world examples.
I love teaching others and helping them excel at difficult subjects such as mathematics, chemistry and physics. With my broad background I can relate to almost any individual and find the right approach to teaching difficult subjects in a manner he/she will understand.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am passionate about guiding students to discover their learning style, so I provide a variety of analysis and synthesis activities using: modeling; academic vocabulary and language writing projects ; left and right brain activities; interdisciplinary, visual, auditory, and kinesthetic activities. Students maintain an interactive notebook in which they maintain a record of different types of note-taking (lecture or reading). Each writing entry is complemented with a variety of processing activities taylored to student learning preferences strengths, and needs. I want students to continually experience the joy of discovery, problem solving, and the pride of achievement, and self-monitoring with my guidance.
During the last 6 years I have attended California State University San Marcos, and completed a Bachelor Degree in History- Social Science after which I completed graduate ... read more

My teaching style would be classified as patient. I was diagnosed with a learning disability myself when I was in third grade, so I know how differently children learn. I was lucky enough to have patient resource teachers to work with and allow me to find my way of learning the material led by them, of course. So I think tutoring is extremely important for success of our children. I even received tutoring all the way up through high school and was grateful to my private tutor for, again, helping me to learn the material in a way that made sense to me and I strive to do the same for the children I teach.
During my years as a student, it was something I excelled at. I did not have to typically study for hours to achieve success in retaining material. I tend to remember things easily and be good with educating others on subject matter. I have been a substitute teacher and have mentore ... read more

Personally, I prefer hands on - lab style workshops - than endless lecturing and note taking. I like to grasp the student's maturity level and aptitude and go from there. All students need individualized attention, but it is also important to have team building skills inherent in the coursework so they learn to both help themselves and others. The first thing is to teach the love of learning, the second is 'how to learn,' and the third thing is the motivation to develop mastery. Most students do not learn how to study, learn how to learn, and if their parents are not educated, they usually never learn these skills.
Straight out of college, I began substitute teaching and then tutoring individuals. I specialized in English, reading skills, history, psychology, and counseling. Now, I'm a computer tutor, a technical writer on contract, and gone through countless hours on training for ... read more

I have always tried to adjust my teaching style to the students with whom I am working while at the same time adhering to the curricula and guidelines of the institution for which I worked. I have successfully worked with students at the remedial level as well as those taking Advanced Placement courses. I am patient, clear and relatively concise. I have never tired of the feeling I get when I see that "light" come on in a student's face. In fact, that is the principle reason that I teach.

My tutoring style comes for many years of working with students at all levels. The first part of my lesson is to teach proper breathing. Most adults and young students simply do not know how to breathe properly. I use a number of teaching techniques including praise for good honest work, excellent outside resources which can come from the internet or from books that I find in the educational stores and libraries. I am dedicated to my student on a full time basis even though I may meet with them perhaps two to three times per week. The student has my full attention and their lessons are instilled for their specific needs. I look for progress from the student and inform them as such initially. Every student is treated with respect and congratulated on their good efforts from the beginning of our studies together. The elementary student often receives flash cards pertinent to th ... read more
