I have enjoyed teaching in private schools of and on for the last 22 years. My bachelor degree in math and my years of experience in the classroom have allowed me to develop successful methods of student motivation and classroom discipline. Also, in recent years, I have tutored students one-on-one in my home where I have been successful pinpointing student's problem areas and addressing their individual needs. I am currently an adjunct instructor at Highland Community College in Wamego. I teach Beginning Algebra and Intermediate Algebra. I have tutored Algebra through Calculus I and Elementary Statistics for the last three years. 1.5 years at both Wichita State University and Washburn University. I'm currently working on a second Bachelors degree in mathematics, but this time with an emphasis in Actuarial Science. This mixes calculus, algebra, and statistics, along with some business classes, into one, keeping them fresh in my mind. I like starting with the given information and stepping through the processes to solve a problem. Reminding them of, or even showing them, the rules, properties, and examples in the book. I normally try to find the method that best works with each pupil, then highlight on that. I also make sure not to do the work for the student. I will sometimes come up with a similar problem to work through so they can see what's really going on within the problem.

I have taught General Math in Junior High, Algebra and Geometry in Junior High and High School, Introduction to Mathematics, and three different Algebra courses in Junior College. I have learned a lot of techniques in teaching. I am currently teaching twenty hours a week to adults in High School Science, some Electives, and in Mathematics. I taught many different classes of Mathematics, some were individualized. I am patient, have a good sense of humor, and try to be kind to all people I work with and teach academic material to. I have been driven my entire life to assist others. I started working in the health care industry as a CNA, 1979. I then went to college and obtained my social work degrees. I worked in various settings to include nursing homes, mental health centers, prisons, adolescent group homes and currently home health care, 1987 to 2009. I am currently pursing additional nursing education, so I can combine my knowledge in the social work arena with nursing. Throughout my work history, I was responsible for educational components, with staff, families and communities. I have completed my B.A. from Regent University in Government. I have strong skills in logic, math, and political philosophy. The program that I completed placed a strong emphasis on reading and writing skills and because of that I have also become proficient in writing and English related processes. I was a tutor at Butler County Community College for almost two years. I helped students through all of the math courses up to Calculus III. I have always been very enthusiastic about learning and always find myself helping others to discover a deeper understanding of a subject.
