I am a question-answer type of teacher. I like to demonstrate, have them do, answer questions, clear up ambiguities, and then test or at least check to insure learning and understanding. My style is patient, respectful, fair and adaptive. The goal is to find what works well for the student, not take a rigid one-size-fits-all approach that a classroom may employ. I start looking right away for “What is missing?” I have seen many students who are perfectly capable but struggle because they missed a fundamental building block. Learning is always difficult. This is normal and I make sure students remember that. There is a balance to be struck where the student is pushing hard enough to improve but not so hard that they withdraw from the learning process.

Ever since working my first teaching internship as a junior in high school, I have gained a passion for teaching and helping others. After earning my B.A. in Psychology from Connecticut College, I worked for one school year as a teacher and tutor at a public school in upstate NY. Most of the students I worked with either had a learning disability or were absent from school due to suspension or health condition.
