In order to reach all students, a teacher must use a variety of teaching techniques to meet the various learning styles of the students and must therefore be both flexible and approachable. Teachers should work more as an aid or guide that facilitate the learning process, rather than as omnipotent instructors who attempt to force knowledge into the minds of their students. Information should not just be passed down as if it is the last and all-knowing word. I’m a graduate from the University of Pittsburgh (2009) with a B.S. in Business Administration. After graduation, I realized my true calling while working at my YMCA in our Child Development Center. My title was an office coordinator position, but I took further responsibilities to help out our teachers in our preschool and toddler classrooms. I believe that learning is best achieved in a comfortable, nothreatening enviroment. People learn best when they understand the importance of the material being taught, something I strive to convey to my students. While I can easily teach a didactic lecturing style, I feel that an interactive approach often better meets the needs of the students.
