My comments on tutoring Sculpting : Sculpture covers many different facets of creation, and we can take this is countless directions.

I believe in Art History being implemented in some of the classes, but I know that students also benefit from a hands-on approach to learning Art. I often introduce a new concept and touch on some of the steps. Most importantly, I often show an example of the finished outcome. Students then have at least a vague concept of what they are working toward. We then take the project(s) step by step and guided practice is used at first and then independent practice continues as I continue to help each student directly. If the session is one-on-one, I will work closely with the student but will only suggest changes and offer ideas occasionally and if asked. Students often need a chance to use their own creativity to thrive and make projects individual.
I have both my degree and my Masters in Art Education. I have worked six years in public education, six years of which I worked with ... read more

Elementary Expert Offering Results

Greetings! I'm a certified elementary educator with seven years of experience working as a basic skills teacher, test prep tutor, and for the last five years a third grade teacher. I am trained in STEM and reading and writing workshops. I pride myself on growing student's reading levels, writing, and critical thinking. I'm currently looking to tutor additional students and would be happy to assist with homework and projects, as well as develop study skills, test readiness, and fundamentals.
I am knowledgeable, friendly, patient, and experienced working with children with a variety of needs. I believe every child is an individual that should be treated with respect and understanding. My approach to teaching utilizes a child's interests, technology, engaging texts, and inquiry-based projects. Tutoring can be so much more than impersonal instruction.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have an upbeat and positive teaching style. I choose to give students freedom within set parameters of a lesson so that they learn at their own pace and with some freedom so that the lesson becomes pertinent to them.
I have been working as an art teacher now in a private school for ten years for students age 4-18. Upbeat and positive, I have excellent communication and organizational skills and love to see children learn and excel. A Little Bit About Me...

I have my BS in Psychology and BA in Art. In May 2003, I received my Masters of Education (M.Ed.) from the University of Maryland in College Park. My work towards this degree provided me with an extensive understanding of scientifically based research, lesson plan development, and teacher training skills. I have worked as an educational researcher on three large-scale government grants studying students’ language and literacy development, and reading motivation, in preschool through college.
I am a determined, enthusiastic, and highly motivated teacher. I want students to grow academically, socially, and emotionally in an atmosphere that is stimulating and adaptive to their diverse needs. I have focused on instilling in my students a love of learning. I believe it takes more than a single individual to make a difference in the lives of a student. Therefore, I have learned the val ... read more

LOUD & LIVELY! I like to make the lessons I teach interesting and involvement is key. If I can educate and entertain (a tool I use), I command participation, respect and learning. Due to my style, students, once in a while, think it's all fun and games. I am also an enforcer of rules. If you want to continue to have learn and have fun, you better act right.
As an educator, I have tutored students in mathematics and English from grades 4 through college level. I have taught songwriting in summer camps, 4th grade language arts and ESL to high school kids fresh from Korea. Also, as a Youth Advocate, part of my job description was helping my kids with school work and homework.

In 1998, I started a one-year, full-time contract, teaching a pre-kindergarten class. After that, I returned to New Jersey, where I worked for 3 years before being offered a permanent position at the International School again in 2002, which I accepted. After holding this position for 8 years, I have now returned home to New Jersey permanently. The University of Delaware has integrated me into the education field with a variety of experiences. As I mentioned in the above paragraph, I meet the child where they are in their learning style. I can adapt to how they learn best and then use different activities and tools to again, "drive home" the concept of what the child may be struggling with. I love teaching anything!
When I graduated with my Bachelor of Science degree in 2002, I accepted a job at a small school in upstate NY that needed a PE teacher. I quickly learned to just relax and "go with the flow" of how the students learned the material and what kind of different activities that we could do to "drive home" the concept of what we were studying. I also learned to be very flexible. I wore many many different hats that first year of teaching which has given me to experience I needed in my recent years of teaching. I am passionate about sports, athletics, history and teaching as a whole!

A Little Bit About Me...

As a graduate from Rowan University’s MA in Writing, I tutored in one-on-one sessions students in history, business, political science, English, creative writing, and composition, providing brainstorming assistance, discussion time, and research help, as well as composition reviews to get their rough drafts rolling. I participated in small-group tutoring that brought together students from integrated college comp. classes, both ESL and non-ESL, in an effort to improve their reading/writing, thinking, and analytical skills. My experience is coupled with a strong theoretical foundation: I hold a BA in Communications with minors in English and creative writing from Rowan.
Tutoring is as personally a rewarding experience as learning. My philosophy is to help students understand that learning and becoming better writers, readers, and thinkers—better people, in fact—is something worth st ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I love finding out how exactly students learn and being able to make learning an enjoyable experience for them. I think that it is not enough to help students learn; they should be taught how to learn. I am a strong believer in learning concepts before applying them to situations. I am a very visual teacher, utilizing props, graphs, drawings and other useful tools to impress the subject matter on students. I also believe in the "see one, do one, teach one" method. By the end of my instruction, students are not only able to complete the problems, but are able to walk through them and "teach" me how to do them. A person will have many teachers in their lifetime, but few of them will be educators.
