Experienced Professional catering to math and coding needs

Hello, my name is Linden. I am an experienced System Analyst at a national laboratory with a PhD in Computer Systems Engineering and a Masters in Mathematics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Upstate New York. Over the years I have enjoyed mentoring students in various math and science disciplines. Recently, I have translated this experience into providing excellent tutoring services for students in the area. I am skilled in a variety of programming languages, but I specialize in tutoring Java, C++, C and most of the math related subjects. My goals for each tutoring session are not only to strengthen the student’s grasp of the material but also to expand their problem-solving abilities. To this end, my work experience provides an ideal resource that I can draw on to provide a connection between the work in the textbook and “real-world” problems. I have a Bachelors in English from Dominican University. I began A Plus Master Tutoring Center over 4 years ago and was teaching in my home. Now we have expanded to a center in Oak Park and we tutor all ages, from Pre-K to adults. Our subjects range from phonics to algebra. Our teaching styles vary from a 3:1 ratio, which would include up to three students and one tutor, or a 1:1 ratio which would be a private session with a student and a tutor. Session prices range from $25-$27 depending on the type of session. We pride ourselves in being an affordable tutoring center compared with the prices of Huntington and Sylvan learning centers. Our tutoring center works with all types of children and we are proud of the work we put forth.

My comments on tutoring Statistics : A's in my Statistics courses

I have been a tutor for this past school year at Saint Xavier University and tutored developmental Math. I have also tutored calculus, geometry, algebra, and trig while i have been attending my undergraduate degree.I have found that the best way to tutor a subject is to get to learn the students learning style and then using real life applications so that the student can get a better grasp of the material and it has worked well when i was at Saint Xavier.

Anything can be achieved with dedication and the right help

I am direct without being overpowering. I have learned how to help the student come to the right answer compared to explaining why the answer is what it is. Talking them through the thought process of the problem is the first step to solving the problem on their own.
I have been a math resource tutor at my high school for the past year. I really enjoying helping people using my strengths in the math and sciences. I have also experienced tutoring first hand. I was tutored in AP BC Calculus and AP Physics, so I know from experience what works and what doesn't. I may not be a teacher but as a means of cost effective tutoring, I can help you out wherever you need it.

More About This Tutor...

I have had experience tutoring at a number of levels. In high school, I volunteered as a math and Spanish tutor for other high school students. I also interned in a first grade classroom for a semester. While in this position, I worked with students one-on-one and in groups to help them to learn material better.
I like to match the learning style of those I am teaching. Usually, I try to make learning interactive, if possible.
