A Little Bit About Me...

As a graduate from the University of San Diego with a Bachelor of Arts in sociology I have gained knowledge and expertise in communicating with people, presenting information, and expressing myself in papers, essays and reports. Following the completion of my degree I had the opportunity to become a baseball coach where I fully utilized my communication skills in my attempt to enlighten the players.
I enjoy working with children and believe I have the qualites such as patience, perseverance, and desire to help all types of students succeed. I believe with guidance and a positive attitude children are able to accomplish what they set out to accomplish. I believe that the purpose of tutoring is to help students help themselves, or to assist or guide them to the point at which they become an independent learner. I am a firm believer that if a student really wants to learn, and accepts a challenge, they can learn a language faster in a few months than most people can over the course of an entire school career. I don't believe in traditional styles that simply teach words and phrases, but rather I focus on the core of grammar. While perfecting my Spanish skills I began to develop a course to teach Spanish to beginners, and continue to perfect that course with a hope to someday publish. With the majority of my experience tutoring advanced level sophmores, juniors, and seniors in college, I am confident that I am ready for all levels of Spanish.
