Students generally perform better with hands-on practice. I provide multiple opportunities for hands-on and guided practice as time permits. Associate new concepts to familiar ones. Our memories are largely associative in nature. Therefore, providing connections from new concepts back to well established ones increases our retention and recall. This is especially important in building up understanding in mathematics. Provide relevant examples. A student who is actively enaged in the lesson will learn more.
For the past two years, I have been working as an adjunct instructor and tutor in mathematics and computer information systems for a local Community College. This experience has been so fulfilling, that I am diligently pursuing a career change from Information Technology professional to teaching. I also taught mathematics for one year at a private school.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have an open style to teaching. I believe that if you show someone the subject; allow them to do the task along with taking notes that they retain most of the information. I also strongly believe that the learning environment needs to be fun and enjoyable. I also give my students small test throughout the class, and then give them an exam at the end. I also encourage them to ask questions at any time throughout the course.
I have been teaching computers for over 14 years. Subject that I am able to teach: Any level of Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, Visio, Project). I am also able to teach any version from 2000-2010. I have also taught QuickBooks, and Quicken for many years. I also know GroupWise, and many other email systems.
