My teaching philosophy mirrors my learning philosophy. I believe in using a variety of methods and media to reach students on a level they can understand. Knowing that not all students learn in the same way necessitates an understanding of individual facilitation as well as group facilitation. I believe in creating an environment that creates curiosity and engagement that will result in long-term learning outcomes. Like Freire, I subscribe to the idea that one must know the word in order to know the world; and one must know the world in order to create meaningful change (Freire, 1970). As a twenty year veteran of the advertising agency business, I have had significant training and experience in communication skills. I am both a talented writer and presenter and have gained teaching experience through volunteer programs and as a guest lecturer.
