Have taken and passed in high percentile: SAT, GRE, GMAT, SERIES 6 and 63, Insurance Licensing for Life, Health and Disability and Real Estate Licensing, Propane I and II safety certifications, National Oil Heat Association safety inspection certification.....In other words I have figured out how to study and take tests and pass them.
Interactive. I listen to the client's concerns and develop a plan. Then I can present a lesson we can accomplish together and homework that will give confidence. As an Honor roll student, a student on the Dean's list I was lucky to have graduated early. I taught six graders through opelia. I have also tutored a master's Student through her Statistics. Currently tutoring a student via online on her Senior Algebra for her Liberal Arts degree. I will hold a BA degree come december of 2010. Where I then plan to student teach and obtain a teaching certification.
I use all the main teaching tools. Both hands on and visually for those students who need different tools. I love to interact with children and adults helping them through their classes to better their future. I also enjoy having a hand in their future success. All students learn in a different way. Primarily, I will try to tutor to that students strengths, but I will include other ways as well. This is to allow the student various opportunities to better expand a topic they struggle with and gain more knowledge on that topic. My goal is to give students the confidence to succeed in the math classroom.
I graduated with my masters in math education in 2008 from SUNY Fredonia. During the school year, I am a substitute teacher. I have taught long-term at various districts in 7th/8th grades, as well as Algebra. Currently I am teaching summer school through a BOCES program, which includes Algebra and Trigonometry. During the school year I have tutored a Geometry student as well.

During my past three years at St. John Fisher College I have been actively engaged in the chemistry department. I have been exposed to various teaching types, one being active learning within a group. This has allowed me to develop teaching skills by explaining my ideas on the subject to my group, while learning the material at the same time. Also, for the past two years I have been an individual tutor for students taking introduction to chemistry. During the tutoring sessions I would help with homework or further explain the material covered in class.
I believe that different teaching styles help different students. A method of both lecture and active learning can be effective for the widest range of students.
