I have worked in Mathematics Education for the past 25 years. I worked with elementary and middle school students for the first five years I taught. I then taught high school math for 1 year and have since taught adults at the University level. I spent 17 years at Heritage University and throughly enjoyed my adult students. I now teach for Yakima Valley College and enjoy these students too. I have two degrees, a BS in Math and a Master's in Math Education. I have tutored many students in math also. I also have a 4-12 teaching certificate in mathematics.
I like teaching mathematics and have always strived to meet the learning needs and styles of each student I teach. I enjoy teaching children and adults of all ages, although most of my experience has come from teaching college age kids. I believe that everyone learns in different ways and one aspect of teaching I enjoy the most is working with someone to find the method of learning that is best for them. I love mathematics and one of my passions is to teach it. I know that not everybody learns the same ways or has the same abilities for certain subjects and that is why I differentiate my instruction. I use the constructivist approach because I believe that students learn best by building on what they already know. I also like to use the Socratic questioning to make the students think critically which would help them throughout their lives.
