A Little Bit About Me...

I like math because it's all about building off of fundamentals. Once a person has a good hold of the fundamentals, they can begin to apply them to more complicated problems. I find the best way to build up the fundamentals is to relate it to the student in some way. Once the material is related, the student is better able to focus and concentrate, which allows for a quicker and more firm grasp of the subject matter.
As a graduate from the Oregon Institute of Technology I have had an in depth education in math, physics, and electronics with a healthy supply of technical writing. While in school I was able to help other fellow students in their math classes, much as I did when I was in high school. This experience, coupled with growing up in a house with two teachers for parents, has helped me obtain a useful teaching style.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a graduate in meteorology with a minor in math, I have had plenty of experience with math and science. I have had the pleasure of sharing this knowledge by tutoring children in these fields. My first experience occurred when I was a senior in college: I tutored students in math individually and in groups. It was enjoyable to assist students in Algebra up to Calculus. I gained more tutoring experience when I assisted high school and college students while I worked for Carney Educational Services recently. I have also been a teacher. I have a great physics and math background and have completed courses in quantum mechanics, statistical mechanics, thermodynamics, wave phenomena, etc. During the 2006-07 school year I helped teach third and fourth year undergraduates in the physical chemistry laboratory at the universityn. Although I have earned my degree, BS in Psychology, my previous education includes 2 years at St. John's College in Santa Fe, New Mexico and 2 years of Engineering at Oregon State University. The years at St. John's have given me the unusual ability to tutor students in Ancient Greek. They laid a foundation in Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry and Calculus which the years of Engineering built up further. I have somewhat a charismatic style of teaching in that I can quickly get excited when I'm teaching. When I teach, I am very organized and have a firm grip on I'm trying to relay across to my students, because I feel that one of the worse things a tutor can do to a student is to get up to teach and sound as if he or she doesn't know what they are talking about.
