I taught a temporary position in third grade (all subject areas), then was asked by the school superintendent to substitute teach in Junior and Senior High School, and Special Education classes, which I did for four more years before I had to move out-of-state for my ex-husband's job. I just spent the last 15 years working for the NYS Dept. of Corrections in many areas. A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that education should present as much material to the student as possible, which includes using various textbooks, lecture, and inquiry. After that, it will be up to the student to assess and construct the information given in order to form his/her own opinion about the subject matter. True education and learning is ownership of the subject matter which comes through effort and discipline and a little bit of guidance.
Since April 2007, I have been a substitute teacher at both the Watkins Glen High School and Middle School. Frequent subjects include English, Psychology, and Physical Education. I belong to a writers group which meets at the local library every first and third monday. I belong to a chess club that meets at a coffee shop every Thursday. I also assistant coach varsity and college soccer during the spring and fall seasons.

I very much enjoy working with children. I enjoy that as i teach them they are teaching me as well. Each individual child learns in their own different way not like that of any other. In my experience with special needs my most knowledge came from just watching their reaction to the curriculum. Each subject had different reactions the facial expression and their attention span to each subject. These very tools gave me the fuel to fire their education.
