I have worked as a tutor for Chemistry at the college level for more than a year. The students I tutored improved by one letter grade or more during the semester. I am currently a high school Chemistry, Physical Science and Earth and Environmental Science teacher. The proficiency rate of the state end-of course tests from my classes in both Chemistry and Physical Science have been 85% or greater. I have a strong General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry background. Through research and experience I am well versed in writing research papers and laboratory reports.

I believe that are students are learners. I believe that a tutor must figure out what student have trouble understanding in any subject. I first start by showing all the students all the step involve in solving any math or science problem. After learning where the student is having trouble, I instruct them on methods for studying the materials. I allows eneanged the student in guided practice when solving a problem. Then i have the student work the problem from start to finish. I check to make sure they solved the equation correctly. I point their mistake as well informed them of what they got right. I am currently working on a Master of Arts in Teching where I learned the importance of the constructivist approach to learning.

A Little Bit About Me...

I recently graduated from Wake Forest University with a biology major and minors in economics and philosophy. In completing the premedical requirements I received a rigorous education in the basic sciences while still taking a broad spectrum of courses through my minors. I enjoyed and excelled most in genetics, organic chemistry, and biochemistry. As I currently apply to medical school, I believe tutuoring is an ideal venue to use education to help other students master complex ideas and achieve their goals. While I have not formally tutored high school or college students, I presently tutor and mentor a teenager with autism, and I have always collaborated with my classmates to study and fully understand the material.
