I have also spent several years as a full-time substitute teacher for a number of Northwest Indiana city school systems including Portage, Westville, Michigan City, LaPorte, and Valparaiso. During my teaching career, several teachers were happy to request and recommend my services for long term teaching assignments, including a four month assignment to a sixth grade Language Arts class for Michigan City Public Schools. I earned my degrees in education from Ball State University. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education with a Kindergarten Endorsement, M.A.E. degree, and a Master of Arts degree in Special Education with minors in the following: Learning Disabilities, Mildly Mentally Handicapped, Seriously Emotionally Handicapped. As a writing consultant what I loved hearing about was when students became more confident and improved to the point of independence. Because of this my teaching style involves breaking down the writing process into a format that is understandable for the student and using the foundations of their learning.
