As an Emporia State graduate, I was very much driven to be a creative planner, a lifelong learner, and an effective practitioner. I have earned my BS in elementary education, and did my student teaching in a first and second grade classroom. I feel that I am very qualified to be a great tutor. I love teaching and working with children. I believe elementary teachers are the building blocks for a child’s future, and children are our future. To be an effective practitioner, I will present lessons in a manner that allows your student to learn and grow, incorporating a variety of teaching methods to target the learning style that works best for the student. I will be the best teacher that I can be. I do not know what the future holds for me, but I do know that I want to share my passion for teaching with tutoring children.

I am thankful that I had some "hard" teachers and professors throughout my education. I have honestly grown to understand the importance of success and how nothing worth having comes easily. I have always been very enthusiastic about learning and always find myself helping others to discover a deeper understanding of a subject. During my time tutoring math, I discovered that there is a necessary balance to allow the student time to process the material without allowing them to get frustrated and giving up. I have worked almost continuously at Wichita Collegiate School over the last 8-9 years. During high school I worked in the Early Childhood after-school program and summer programs. Since graduating from Colorado State University I have substituted in multiple age groups and for a variety of course work areas. In addition, I have received an Associates Degree in Elementary Education and am working towards a Teaching License.
