Teacher looking to help students learn to love math!

I feel that it is important to relate to students and make the learning experience about what they need. I like to get to know a student on a personal level so that I can better learn what's best for them as a studuent.
Out of college, I substitute taught for a year, where I gained the ability to adapt to the needs and personalities of many different students. My comments on tutoring Pre-Algebra : Jr. High Pre-Algebra, High School Algebra 1 and 2, and currently in College Pre-Calculus

I don't really have a teaching style because I have never been an actual tutor before. But, I love helping people and I always helped my friends with homework, especially in math. I am not the kind of tutor who will just give you the answers, I like to make you think about the problem and come up with your own answer. If the answer is wrong, I will ask you to look again and see where you made mistakes and, if needed, I will point them out for you. I really want to help you learn and grow so, eventually, you won't need a tutor.
I'm am a current college student at Nebraska Wesleyan University. A Little Bit About Me...

I love the one-on-one part of teaching. Connecting with kiddos, seeing the light bulb turn on in their faces. One of the reasons I am no longer teaching is the special ed paperwork was getting to take up more time than the teaching was. Plus I now have 2 small children at home. I really miss the one-on-one part of teaching. I know there is more than 1 way to teach every concept in math! Showing a kid this, is very important! Also showing them that it's okay to be scared! Start with what the student knows and gradually into the new and unknown material. This way the student is guided seamlessly into the unknown using what he knows as a "bait". Math, and calculus for that matter, is best mastered by practice. As such, I prefer to guide the student into problem-solving immediately after the concepts are taught.
