A Little Bit About Me...

I have a passion for helping people, and nothing satifies me more than helping a person understand a concept and succeed in his or her class. I teach using a lot of examples and incorporating the concepts into the example problems so that the student can see how the examples are based on the concepts. I strive to know the students well so they don't just see me as a tutor but also as a friend who is easily approachable with questions.
I worked for over 2 years as a study session leader for various engineering courses while getting my B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. I also tutored several students in engineering classes at the college level. I have experience working with elementary through high school students as well.

My teaching style is that I determine how best the student learns through observation and direct incouragement, instilling confidence for them to break through all barriers. Making learning fun is always more enjoyable for both students and tutors! I would develop a great rapport with my student(s) and create incentives to stretch the mind and promote creativity. I gain much satisfaction by contributing to the success of others!
I have a strong background in English grammar and composition as well as the basic sciences-especially geology and geography (Master of Science degree). This includes a lifetime "A" avgerage in English spelling, grammar, and composition, a 15-unit "A" grade on my master's thesis, as well as experience as a college English Tutor and college notetaker for the disabled.
