My comments on tutoring ADD/ADHD : I have experienced personal situations in which ADHD has made a task more challenging. I have a great understanding of ADHD and how it can make schoolwork more difficult. One thing I always remember is that it is not the child's fault.

I graduated with my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from UNC-Wilmington. I taught first and second grades for ten years in the classroom. While teaching, I returned to school to receive my Master's Degree in Reading (k-12) and certification as a Reading Specialist. I worked as a Reading Teacher for five years, focusing on grades first through third. I also served as a K-2 Instructional Coach. I have enjoyed guiding children through the stages of reading, beginning with letter recognition and book and print awareness, to successfully completing End of Grade tests. My most recent experience has been helping teach a couple students being homeschooled! What an exciting experience! Unfortunately, the family is moving out of state. My passion since I was 5 years old has always been teaching. I used to play teacher with my sisters and give themm stickers for job well done. I have found that the best way to teach students is to have them do, not listen. Most students at any level are very unmotivated to learn if someone is lecturing at them or working at a pace that is above what they are able to accomplish.
