A Little Bit About Me...

I have two younger sisters myself, and I am currently coaching the eight year old's softball team. From this experience, I have learned to have patience and creativity when it comes to teaching. I break things down so they become fun and informative.
While at Virginia Tech, I dedicated much of my time to volunteering. Here I fell in love with serving others. A Little Bit About Me...

I am a very motivating person and tend to use humor as a method of teaching. I teach to and with the child and never down to him/her. I break large components into their simplest forms so that a child learns to take things one step at a time and not feel overwhelmed. I make the learning relevant to what the child is interested in or knows about so that he/she can be more engaged in the learning process. We set the goal-a reasonable one yet with high expectations and together we achieve it.
For the past ten years, I have been teaching High School English. I have taught grades 9-12 in Literature, Composition and Standards of Learning in preparation for the state exams. My style of teaching is centered around three basic concepts. Building relationships with students, making the information something they can relate to, and finally providing them with lessons that challenge them while simultaneously making the lesson something they can comprehend.
