More About This Tutor...

I have earned two Bachelor's degrees, BA Biology/Chemistry with a concentration in Secondary Education and the second a BS in Medical Laboratory Science. Following graduation in 1987 with my first degree I taught High School Science for 4 years at 2 separate private schools – one in Wakefield, MA and the other in Columbus, OH. After two years of teaching, my desire was to enter the medical field whereby my employer provided tuition coverage for a degree in Medical Technology. While working as a Laboratory Microbiologist, I taught an Introduction to Health and Human disease at UNH for college nursing students. Since then, I have been in the Medical Sales industry (18 years).
My teaching style is one that is direct and considerate while attempting to make the field of study fun and interesting. I work best with high school and college students in the areas of biology, anatomy/ph ... read more

More About This Tutor...

I am very enthusiastic about teaching and about science. I believe that all students can learn if they are supported and if they are shown how the information they are learning is relevant to their lives. With high expectations and a strong support system, all students, even those who are struggling, can achieve their full potential. As a teacher I believe it is important to support all students and help them learn in whatever ways necessary. It is the job of the teacher to spark the student's interest in a particular subject. It is important to me to educate students about science because it is so important in the world around them.
I will be graduating from the University of New Hampshire with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in May 2010. I also have a minor in teaching and will continue in the teaching field through a Masters Degree program at UNH this coming fall. I ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

As a recent graduate of a high ranking tech school with my BS in Business Administration and Materials Engineering I am very familiar with the academic setting and learning styles of various students. My areas of study require me to be familiar with high level mathematics and science in addition to an understanding of communication skills in both technical writing, such as lab reports, and business communication techniques. Throughout my academic career I was constantly tutoring my peers and have many years of formal and informal experience as a peer tutor.
Being a recent graduate of a university I am able to relate to students and understand the academic setting. I enjoy teaching and am motivated to help students achieve results in the form of grades and understanding. I think each student has their own learning style and finding that is important to the teaching process.

A Little Bit About Me...

Working with children has always been my passion. I feel as though it is important to engage all different types of learners and to make them feel as if the classroom is a place where everyone is safe and included. I have worked extensively in the past with children that have Autism. I believe that all children, despite any disability, are capable of being successful students as long as they are given the right tools and the support that is necessary.
Coming from a family of teachers, the importance of education has always been stressed to me. The emphasis was placed not only on succeeding academically, but also to gain a true understanding of the subject matter.
