Elementary Phonics is one of my top subjects!

I have taught all aspects of literacy since 2003. This includes reading, writing, grammar, phonics, spelling, and handwriting. I was an Early Literacy teacher for two years and a Title I teacher for three years. In addition, I have taught preschool children and middle school children. My last three years of teaching directly were in a second grade classroom. I have abundant experience in assessing reading skills and abilities and determining students' reading levels.
I try to include fun in every lesson. Playing games, creating rhymes or chants to remember mechanical rules helps students to move forward in their skills. Consistency with generous praise so that students feel success creates readers.

Love watching children learn and grow!

I graduated from East Carolina University with a B.S. in Elementary Education (K-6) as well as Reading Certification (K-12). I did an internship in 1st grade as well as taught some in 2nd and 3rd grade. I know that each child is different and that I must differentiate my teaching methods in order to reach all children. Education is my life. From a very young age, I loved school and learning. It all started with my brother and his learning disability. I tutored him all throughout his academic career. A Little Bit About Me...

As an graduate of Elizabeth City State University, I have done exceptionally well. I learned so much through tutoring other students. When I tutored in the Business Department for Accounting and Finance classes, I gave some students hope, and some students even looked up to me.
