I have passed numerous actuarial exams that cover advanced mathematic topics as well as becoming a charterholder in the CFA Institute in 2009. I worked in the Math Department, as either a tutor or a Teaching Assistant, for the past three years. As a Teaching Assistant I led a 50 minute recitation of the material, graded materials, and kept records for my 30 students. As a tutor I helped MSU undergraduates learn key concepts and study for their upcoming exams. I worked in the Algebra room and the Calc I room. I helped out a little in the Calc II room, but I never had time, as a full time student myself, to review the material and refresh my memory, so I was much less helpful than I should have been.
I love teaching because I love passing on knowledge. I believe anyone can learn anything they want, it just takes us all different lengths of time and effort to achieve our educational goals. It is difficult for me to say which age of student I love working with because each student I have worked with from age 6 - 25 has been very rewarding. Prior to graduating Suma Cume Laude in the School of Education at DePaul University, I served as a tutor, both through the school and privately. Levels ranged from first grade through college. Following graduation, I taught for 6 years in two metropolitan high schools.
