A Little Bit About Me...

In high school, I served as a tutor for elementary school students for the state program Ohio Reads. At the University of Pittsburgh, I earned a BA in English Writing with minors in Chemistry and Studio Art. I have extensive experience in technical and laboratory writing, critical analysis, critiques and creative writing from related college coursework. I frequently aided fellow classmates and students in improving their writing independently. I have extensive experience working with the internet, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher. Being a current student myself, I can appreciate the hardships and struggles of education. I feel that you must always level with your students, no matter what the age. The students are the ones who must lead the class. However, we as educators have a duty to guide and to nourish this idea. We must be leaders who encourage a positive and productive learning environment, while also maintaining an enjoyable experience. I believe in a split between communicative and explicit teaching.
