I am more of a hands on,and mainly a lot of visuals as well as worksheets. Sometimes I use music, artists, sports and current events as a reference.
Every since I was little, I realized that I wanted to help others. I taught a bunch of young female children about field hockey. I have tutored my cousins in all of the areas listed and it helped them with their studies and their education. While I tutor, I like to have music playing in the background softly. I am available during the academic school semesters and the rest of the remaining summertime. I do have a full time job, and the only time that I am available now would be after 1 pm to about 6 pm throughout the week and weekend.

My experience suggests that students must participate to fully benefit from the teaching and learning experience. This implies that they must be interested in the subject. Therefore it is, in part, the teacher's role to engage the students and guide them in a manner that engenders their interest. Beyond this I have found that students respond best when their strengths are recognized and their efforts rewarded. I think that the way to encourage a child's success is to identify the ways in which the students learns best, and to understand what subjects/topics interest them. I taught with the Bangor adult education program in the early 1980's as a graduate student in educational psychology. I taught adults a variety of subjects math, English and GED preparation at that time. I also taught English as a Second language with them.
