I really enjoy teaching the writing process.I love working with all children, and I firmly believe that all children can learn to become great writers when they find out what the discipline expects of them. I am very patient and considerate of childrens needs; as some are hands on learners, some are visual learners, some need a scaffolding approach to writing, or simply need to know organizational approaches to writing...so I attempt to meet the student where they are in the learning process and provide them the nurturing approach, and healthy environment. I evaluate each child during my first session to determine their learning style and their level of need. Once we establish that, I tailor a program of study designed to improve not only the current subject at hand but also to provide long term study habits they can take into their future learning experiences. I use various methods of oral, written and guided reading, memorization and visual learning to reach as many of the brain's centers of learning as possible to truly help the child retain the information long term.
I have a long history of tutoring experience along with substitute teaching at The Baylor School in Chattanooga from 2000 until 2008 and prior to that at various private homes for 2 years. Teaching to me is a vocation and not just a job. I enjoy helping children achieve their peek potential in the subject matter at hand. My teaching experience is mostly in private school settings and I taught public school for a year. I am currently waiting to be certified in Spanish in Virginia and will be taking the courses necessary to become a certified teacher in the near future. I have taught 6 grade to High School level Spanish, English and Social Studies and Middle School Math.
