Excellent Tutor

I have tutored on many levels of math from algebra through calculus. Other areas I have proficiently tutored in physics, chemistry, creative writing, and test preparation. As a graduate of a private college, I have always been driven to perform at the top of my game. I have received two Bachelors degrees in both English literature and theater. Early in my collegiate career I gained a position as a teaching assistant (TA) and taught a required first year course for 3 out of my 4 years of college. In this position, I noticed that a lot of writing skills were missing from first year students that I felt that they should hav possessed and created and implemented a collegiate level writing and researching workshop that the college still uses. A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that while students may forget specifics of what they are learning, they will never forget how teachers make them feel. I also belive that the best teachers are the ones that make themselves less needed the longer they teach specific studdents. I want to empower the students I teach to be able to learn and excell on their own in the future. I love to bring history to live for students so I like to explain events in a story format. It is important for students to memorize facts, however, so I focus on memorization techniques and organization. Reading requires comprehension so I use a combination of techniques including reading out loud and repetitive reading. I am patient and creative, so I can usually find what works for that individual student.

I enjoy working with children of all ages and am available for all subjects. My focus is teaching through discovery; whether by observation, research, or builiding upon previous knowledge. I believe all children need nurturing in academics and the biggest hurdle many face is self-confidence (or the lack of).
After teaching preschool age children for 5 years, I returned to school to pursue a BS in secondary Education with a concentration in political science. I graduated in 2007 after 3 years at Georgia Southern University. In 2008, my family and I moved to Wakulla County, FL. Here I began teaching 3rd and 4th grade at Wakulla Christian School.
