I have been teaching for more than fifteen years at the collegiate level and I have taught one year at the high school level. I also tutor students when I find students in need of extra assistance. I have worked in the insurance field for about fourteen years and worked in competitive environments in an actuarial department. I have also ran a small business for more than twelve years. I have a diverse number of experiences so that I can make mathematics practical and live for the student.

I believe that each child/adult has a learning style unique to them. Finding what works and what makes learning fun, to me, are critical to success, especially to struggling learners. Positive reinforcement and encouragement are critical, as well.
My background includes teaching at the elementary level and at the adult education level, especially literacy. I spent 10 years directing an adult literacy program where I trained volunteers to be tutors and tutored myself. After graduating from college with a degree in English, I pursued a career in the corporate field. I did not find it satisfying and yearned to return to school to pursue a master's in education. I began substitute teaching in spring of 2007 and completed my student teaching in December 2007. I am very passionate about teaching. I am a very hands-on type of teacher that really likes to get the student involved in their learning.
