Ready to love learning

I currently work as a substitute teacher at Riverside Military Academy. I've worked with elementary children and teenagers extensively. My most recent position serves twenty and thirty somethings in their personal and spiritual formation. I have published my writing, acted on stage, spoken before thousands and mentored dozens. My personal intent is to explore life, discover new things, tackle hard challenges and inspire others to do the same. I believe in the value of the individual and don't believe one-size-fits-all.
Adaptive. I have a background in experiential education and believe that the method is not as important as the end result of having assimilated, understood, and taught back the information. I believe in creative learning techniques and hope to inspire a love of learning alongside the discipline of learning itself.

I have a minor in English, so I am confident in both my reading skills and writing skills. I have worked with third graders, first graders and kindergarteners in my undergraduate experience and believe I could work with any level.
I absolutely love children of all ages. I am a strong advocate for using literature to spark students' interests in topics. My teaching style is one of excitement and enthusiasm. I am passionate about the material I teach, and try to convey this excitement to my students without being annoying and over enthused. In the fields of physics and mathematics, I prefer to use analogies and easy to understand examples to help students learn specific principles and to help show them the big picture into which their hard work fits. I emphasize students taking pride in their work and steadily gaining self-confidence.
As a mechanical engineering graduate from Penn State, I have vast experience with the principles of physics and mathematics. As a junior and senior in high school I tutored students in algebra and trigonometry.
