I was a teaching assistant in the accounting department at Penn State while in graduate school so I have experience teaching the fundamentals of accounting to business students. In accounting and finance it is important to develop a strong grasp of the fundamental principles and concepts and learn to build upon them as you progress along your academic career. The more advanced coursework for the most part builds upon these basic concepts I prefer to break down advanced and complex problems and concepts into smaller more manageable tasks so as to simplify things. Every person has the ability to learn! I have found the key is to establish a rapport with each student, and then find the method that works best for them. Some students learn better by hearing the concept. It is helpful for them to first have a conversation about what the subject matter is, and how it is used, and then proceed to the actual lessons. Other students excel when they see the concept first, and learn best through visual aids. The important step is finding what works for each child/student in order to make learning attainable, and enjoyable, and, most importantly, impart confidence.
