I like to observe children to determine what learning styles best fit their personalities and strengths. I believe in the capabilities of all children, when their teachers find the proper ways to motivate and support their learning. I find that building a trusting relationship in which students feel comfortable asking questions and thinking critically are best for making gains.
I have been a classroom teacher for the past four years in both elementary and middle school. As a graduate of the University of Virginia, I was very dedicated to learning as much as possible. I double majored in Government and Sociology, yet was able to take numerous courses in other areas as well. After earning my undergraduate degree, I decided to pursue graduate school immediately. I was offered Graduate Teaching Assistantships at the University of North Carolina Charlotte. This experience was wonderful because I not only could learn in my master's level courses, but also introduce undergraduate students into the field that I was passionate about.
Teaching and working with young individuals over the course of my education has been particularly memorable. I have taught and tutored a wide array of students from Ivy league bound seniors to 4 year olds with autism. I am very open-minded and love helping others to achieve their goals and strive for excellence.
