A Little Bit About Me...

I am an author of many books. I have published a book for the trade market (in bookstores) as well as many books for the education market. Among the books I have written is a book for teachers about teaching writing to the high school student. I have more than 30 years experience in helping students be better writers. Additionally I have been a bylined columnist for a local paper and have been published in many newspapers across the country. I know how to help students be successful.
I am committed to helping students achieve mastery of the writing process. I believe the best way to learn is peer-to-peer learning. As an auto-didact I have the study skills necessary to regurgitate information as taught by the current institutional models. This is an uncreative and highly unnatural way to learn. There's a reason no major discovery was made in a classroom -- true innovation, discovery and learning is an organic process.
I'm a student at Augustana College whose academic record has ranged from public school to home schooling to community college and and even private education. I've worked as a tutor for over 2 years at Black Hawk College, at the same time obtaining an Associates Degree. Throughout those years I've encountered many special needs students and many bright students, tutoring in subjects ranging from English, Math, Social Studies, to Computer Science.
