My comments on tutoring Elementary Phonics : Individual work done with student to assess phonetics

I have taught a large array of children and adults, anywhere from a 2nd grader struggling with reading to adult Burmese refugees. I have the patience and flexibility to successfully work with anyone. I started tutoring when I was around the age of 13. I taught a young Korean girl English, where I would have to create my own lesson plans. While I attended Okemos high school, I partook in volunteering experiences that dealt with tutoring. For two years, I was placed at an elementary school where I would tutor 1st-5th graders biweekly with anything from basic math to practice with reading. I built strong connections with the children, which I could use to better their learning. At Michigan State University, I spent a semester tutoring at the Boys and Girls club of Lansing. Middle School Phys. Ed. 20 years Adult Ecucation. Subjects taught, American Government, U. S. History, Health Issues. I currently hold a Continuing Certificate from Mich. granted in 1978, and a Professional Certificate from Florida. I retired from Michigan Public Schools in 2006 with a pension, which includes health insurance. I then relocated in Phoenix, Arizona where I taught Fourth Grade for two years. A Little Bit About Me...

I have had one year experience as a paraprofessional in a Preschool classroom setting. I have also been a substitute teacher for K-8th grades. I taught for a year as a Kinderkamp teacher. This was a supplemental class for kindergarten. I worked with the kindergarten teachers to create my lessons.I have my Bachelor's degree in English with a minor in Linguistics. I went back to school years later to obtain an Elementary Educaion teaching certificate with a Master's Degree. My three teaching areas include Language Arts, Social Studies, and Early Childhood.
