Some of my fondest memories come from watching usually college-age newspaper and magazine interns blossom into competent and confident reporters and writers. The techniques I applied in those situations are easily adaptable to academic endeavors. My teaching style entails asking questions rather than giving answers, allowing the student to find his or her own way. As an undergraduate, I worked as a College Algebra tutor for two years. This required 3 to 6 office hours a week were students would come to on need basis or if their grade fell below a 70. I would also attend algebra classes every week to help the professor and the students. I became a favorite to many students and professors and was kept busy because of all the recommendations I received. During my last semester as a tutor, the director had a car accident and was out for many weeks. I took the responsibility to coordinate and lead exam review sessions for 20+ students by myself. A Little Bit About Me...
