German is one of my top subjects! Hi, my name is Evelin and I am a native German speaker and trained teacher for German as a foreign language. I provide excellent German lessons for all age groups, proficiency levels and focus points (e.g. business German, holiday German, conversational German, ...) in your preferred surroundings. I am a certified German and English teacher with a university degree and 10 years of teaching experience in online teaching, tutoring and classroom teaching. I have a very unique and simplified way of explaining grammar and making you feel confident speaking German after the very first lesson. I pick learning material appropriate to your learning style and interests, and provide several first-hand insights to German culture, food and people. We will look at grammar, read authentic texts, discuss stereotypes, learn idioms and listen to authentic German audios.

I personally consider my teaching style as "holistic" or alternative. My philosophy and experience has shown me that every learner is different and has his/ her individual needs. Some are better at grammar, some are way better at talking, ... My idea is to meet you where you are and guide you from there. In our first lesson, I will try to get to know your personal background, if you have ever learned German before, your motivation and learning preferences. A Little Bit About Me...

I believe in the "practice makes perfect" approach, especially when it comes to math, science, and language study. That said, I also believe that practice can be interesting, fun, encouraging and reinforcing. I would hope to help a student figure out how to learn and approach new challenges with confidence and enthusiasm. Sometimes what a child needs most is to simply understand that he or she is capable of achieving. Practiced for years as an attorney for NYS. Semi-retired now. I have also been a tutor with the Literacy Volunteers of America (LVA) in Albany, NY. I met with a Korean graduate student at U. Albany and helped him learn English. I am also able to help in foreign language tutoring with German and French.
