Unique, powerful fusion of counseling and teaching.

28 years of tutoring for SAT. 15 years for ACT, GMAT, GRE, LSAT, etc. I have devised unique guessing strategies for multiple choice tests that by themselves have significantly raised students' scores. I have gone to Paris, France, all expenses paid, to do an intense 2-week SAT prep session. I love what I do- every child is a unique individual to me, and tutoring is what I am born to do.

I love working with all children. I believe all children have the capability to learn math and put it to use in everyday life, but in a variety of methods and understandings. I like the elementary range of math because I can use all the math knowledge I have acquired through my own education. A Little Bit About Me...

I like working with children of all ages. I believe that children of all ages and cultural backgrounds can learn if given a proper chance. I even managed to teach children in South Korea, when I didn't speak Korean at all and my students had limited English skills. I taught them through games and use of our workbooks and student books. I believe in making learning a fun experience with lots of games and an easy going manner. If the kid is bored or unhappy, it is going to make it much harder for the child to learn. I try to also reach my students at the level where they are at. If a student is at a lower level of understanding, I will start with them there and slowly challenge and build them to a higher level.

My teaching style is one where I combine the approach that best suits the individual’s personal learning style with proven sound educational best practices. I have had successes with motivating students who usually do not like to read. I have been able to help them by meeting them where they are and then helping them to formulate and meet their own goals.
