From the beginning we must let the students know what expectations we have so that they can prepare themselves for the upcoming tasks at hand. I also believe that you must have some flexibility in teaching in understanding that some topics may take longer to cover than initially expected. I have also found from my experience that when teaching or tutoring it is best to look at the student's past work and grades to see where there are problem areas. I am patient and like to review to make sure the foundation is strong in the subject area we are working on before we begin more advanced topics.
As an undergraduate I worked for the university learning center and the educational opportunity program. I have been tutoring Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics since an undergraduate student. I also tutored English in Europe for several years and prepared my students for the TOEFL. I have been also teaching economics and finance because in 1995 I took the series 7&63 stockbroker licence and in 2000 I passed the LIFA, licensed international financial analyst exam.
My teaching style concentrates on the task I ought to solve. If I teach a group of people, I give a brief exam first. Tutoring individuals allows me to concentrate on one person and develop a winning strategy to motivate and teach the student for the given subject.
