My comments on tutoring Chemistry : I received my BS in Biological Sciences with a minor in Chemistry with honors in 2010. I have taken and received A's in 2 inorganic classes, 2 organic classes. I have taken and received high marks in biochemistry.

I have tutored one-on-one as well as to large groups. My focus is on college level science classes. I feel that bringing creative and unique methods to learning helps student overcome their dispassion or fear. My sessions aim to be positive and motivating. During my time at the Rochester Institute of Technology, I was a student grader while working towards my B.S. in Computational Mathematics. I obtained my degree with Highest Honors, and an overall GPA of 3.88. I graded mostly college algebra and early calculus. I was required to do the same homework and quizzes the students did, and create answer keys. Then, I would go through each problem and either give full credit for a correct answer and work, or partial credit if needed. A Little Bit About Me...

Once in a classroom I realized that I was meant to teach. I love working with students who are challenging and those who challenge me. In my final semester as a TA at Maine, I was assigned instructing Chemistry lab to a class that was regarded by some as "difficult" and "slow". The students were largely Forestry majors for whom Chemistry was a required course that had little to do with their major and in which there was little interest. I found that treating them with respect and dignity resulted in more receptiveness on their part. Rather than talking "at" them, I talked "to" them and explained the experiments using analogy with everyday experiences. To my supervisor's astonishment, I even had some students coming to me for extra help, with the result that they all passed the course with a grade of C or better.
