Reading Tutoring with special attention to reading comprehension. Literature selection implemented which would both broaden vocabulary and teach admiration for historic advances in the art of reading and making books. I thoroughly enjoy helping students learn and watching students succeed. Complex subjects such as chemistry can be overwhelming to some students and I believe that the best way to teach these subjects is to give the student a firm understanding of the whole concept and then concentrate on the specifics. Finding a way to relate a concept to a student is key. I find that just having someone there to explain a concept in a way that is easy to understand can change a student's whole perspective on a particular subject or discipline.

My freshman year at Clemson I tutored 7th graders in math. I was also a tutor in high school for a k-6 school for children with low-income families. It has always been a passion of mine to help others with grasping a subject.
My favorite part of tutoring is working with children who are frustrated with a subject and being able to break it down and teach it to them in a way that they can relate to. Also, the self-confidence the student gets that comes from being prepared for a test is very important.
