Being a tutor for grades 6-8 was different because they had the basics. They needed to be informed and focused. If one understands the motivation for the rules they can better anticipate how items should be handled and they are more likely to retain information. Simply memorizing facts and rules doesn't serve students well in the long run and that approach is only as good as their ability to recall the proper information at the right time.
