Time Tested Teacher

I began my 32 year teaching career in the field of music. I taught in the Visalia Unified School District in Visalia, California. I taught classroom music to children in grades 4-6. This was a job that required traveling from school to school encompassing 12 schools a week. During that time, I worked on completing a fifth year of college in order to obtain an elementary teaching credential from California State University, Fresno. Upon completion on my student teaching in a second grade classroom, I began a teaching position in Lindsay, California teaching 2nd grade for 4 years there. My next four years were spent substituting in the Rock Hill, SC school district after relocating from California due to my late husband's job transfer. In order to be an effective teacher one must possess the ability to create an engaging, positive classroom that not only focuses on the major subjects but incorporate the arts as well. I feel that children learn in various different ways and incorporating different methods of effective instruction students will gain the knowledge they need to succeed. I will use new and innovative ways to instruct each and every child in the classroom. Teaching in an environment that possesses a positive energy as well as an active learning environment is the key to successful education. They will be able to incorporate what they learn each and every day in the classroom and apply it to everyday life.
