A Little Bit About Me...

I've been teaching college and high school level mathematics for over 6 years. I have been tutoring math and sciences over a decade. I've worked as a Statistician private contractor for about a year for Hospira and Partners BHM, and I worked in math education software design for about a year as a content editor and tester.
I try to alleviate math anxiety, and introduce thoughtfulness as a way to solve problems. I teach how to understand math rather than just mimicking the behavior of the teacher. Math is about putting two and two together more than it is about learning how to add and subtract. If you would like to contact me it's probably best to call or text me as I may not see messages on here. 704 300 1027

A Little Bit About Me...

I find nothing more exciting and rewarding than teaching a topic or subject to an individual and seeing the expression and excitement on their face when they truly begin to understand the material. I was motivated by several gifted teachers while I was in high school and I believe that patience during the process of teaching, coupled with conveying your belief to the student that they in fact can master the material is incredibly important and crucial to the success of the student-teacher bond. You are not just teaching a particular subject, but a 'process' that will prime the student for further academic growth in the future.
Attending and graduating from Davidson College, a small liberal arts college in NC, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry was an extremely rewarding experience. I found that the college groomed their students by emphasizing analytical skills--both ... read more

I believe that each child learns in a different way, and as a teacher it is my challenge and duty to teach in such a way, to approach the problem from enough different angles, that each student would understand the concept at hand. I love that challenge. I am easy going, patient, and I relate well to children. I look forward to learning with and from each student I encounter.
In 2002 I graduated with a degree in biotechnology. During the last semester of school, I was a substitute teacher, where I learned a lot about children and different teaching styles. After graduation, I pursued a career as a chemist, but I always maintained a second part-time job teaching, in some fashion. Usually, that teaching involved a pool. I have been a swimming lesson instructor for 10 years and have been a YMCA swim coach for 3 seasons, coaching over 200 children per year. In these opportunit ... read more

I believe everyone can do mathematics. It just has to be explained to the student in a way so that he can relate to it. I believe in presenting the material in several different ways so that it can be understood. I enjoy sharing my knowledge with other people and would like to help your child excel in math and science.
I do not have current experience teaching or tutoring for pay. I did some tutoring of high school students and fellow classmates while I was in college. Since then, I have been the "go-to" person in my family for help with math and science. I tutored one of my sisters in her classes at St Charles Community College. She graduated with an Associates degree in AutoCAD last year. I helped her with all her cad, math, physics, and engineering classes. From 2002 thru 2008, I tutored one of my nieces through her junior high and high school math and science classes. I feel th ... read more

I recently graduated from Wake Forest University with a BA in Philosophy, and a minor in Psychology. Because my major concentration is broad, I have a strong background in various fields--math from years of logic, grammar from years of writing, and critical thinking. For the last 4 years, I have been working with children with autism in both the home and school settings. In this field, I have focused on increasing these children's expressive language and socialization skills. I also have tutored privately in home in the fields of biology, social studies, and mathematics.
I am an advocate of early intervention. Especially in the special education field, it is imperative to begin a child's learning at the earliest available time. I do not have a strict teaching style, but, instead, am flexible according to your child's passions and strengths. I believe it is best to transfer kn ... read more

I graduated with honors from the College of Charleston (and the Honors College) with a degree in Business Administration/Finance and a minor in Pre-Actuarial studies. As part of my minor I completed Calculus I, II, III, and IV, Linear Algebra, and graduate courses in Probability and Statistics. I have had the opportunity to continually enhance my analytical abilities and will begin working on my Masters Degree in Mathematical Finance at UNCC this fall. Throughout college and high school I have had the opportunity to offer tutoring services to friends and class mates, which has allowed me to develop and improve my teaching skills.
When helping students learn and understand material I believe it is important to first gain the student's trust, so they will not resist receiving help. I am a recent college graduate and find that it is easier to relate to, communicate with, and gain the ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

As a UCF graduate and even prior to that I have always helped in the area of homework and study. I have earned a bachelor degree in Psychology and I have started a second bachelor's degree in Forensics. I have obtained many tutoring skills in my various areas of study including math, English, psychology, and science.
I have worked with children since I was 13. I have worked in settings where I was a daycare worker, a nanny, and a substitute teacher. I believe that every child has thier own unique way of learning even though there may be a mainstream way of teaching. I like to see where a child is and then go from there to see what would be the best way to help them learn new things.

I have a passion for teaching and have built a career of making learning fun, hands-on, and accessible to students of all ages. Every student is different, and I am very good at evaluating a student’s individual needs and tailoring my teaching style to suite him or her. I believe that it is essential to not only teach subject matter, but also to instill in students a love of learning as well as the confidence that they can learn anything if they really try. I take every opportunity to make learning hands-on and interactive. Applying subject matter to current events and students’ lives is essential to their development and appreciation of learning. My overall goal is to be a positive influence in every student’s personal and educational development.

I love learning and the precision arts such as mathematics. This has driven me to begin in a computer career. I spent almost two decades applying my computer skills. Learning has never stopped for me. But then I love the outdoors and working with my hands. I have taught myself the carpentry trade and the concrete business. I started out by sitting down with the manuals and memorized the building codes before I built my own house. Recently I applied mathematics to a roof I was building. Simple, yes, but not everyone would take the time to lay it out on paper and get accurate measurements. I hope one day that I will be able to combine mathematics with real life applications as I home school my own son.
What I have discovered about myself is that I learn differently from other people. I am the kind of person who prefers to set aside that assembly instruction manual and ... read more
