I have taught in the classroom for children from pre-school age to third grade. After receiving training from the state of NC for child care credentials, I also have taught adults at a community college. I have occasionally worked part-time tutoring students in reading and math.
I enjoy teaching and it is such a joy to see "the light come on" in a child's mind. I believe children all learn in different ways and a great teacher will find the best way for each child to learn. As a graduate from an accredited college, I have learned and excelled as a science major. I have earned a BA in Biology, which has enabled me to obtain a well rounded education, which focused on math and science. In addition, I have learned extensive grammatical skills throughout my educational experience in writing laboratory reports, research papers, and on my own study I, myself conducted. The first thing that I try to do is get to know my client, mainly focusing on what they both like and dislike about school. Then we narrow it down even further to the subject that they are having problems in. I ask them what they think the problem is, find out what the school/teacher thinks the problem is (through review of their coursework including past homework and tests) and come up with a solution that will benefit the student, teacher, and parent to improve and fix the situation.
