A Little Bit About Me...

Coming from a family of teachers and engineers, it was no surprise that I received a BS in Civil Engineering and pursued a career that would allow me to use my engineering degree and provide an avenue to teach. Teaching and training adults in a wide variety of technical topics, some that included mathematics, was a large part of my 15 year career as a Safety Engineer. In addition to teaching at work, for years I have worked with my son as well as friend’s children in all levels of mathematics. I learned through visual aid. So, I guess I would lean towards this style of teaching. However, if a student learns better with audio aid then I would be willing to combine the two methods to better educate the student. My goal is to provide the best education possible and to suceed in that is to have great communication and alittle fun doing the work that is expected.
I have not taught anyone or tutored anyone for money. However, I would like to have the oppitunity to be able to tutor children or young adults on their way of the journey of life. I too was tutored going through school and not just once. I attended Sylvin Learning Center every other year since sixth grade. I earned two bachelor degrees from the University of North Carolina in December of 2007. From there, I chose to move to Massachusetts to participate in a ground breaking fellowship at MATCH Charter Public High School. I chose this alternate route to receiving teaching certification because of the classroom experience it provided me. In addition to earning certification and completing student teaching hours, I tutored for 20-30 hours a week in all subject areas in grades 9, 10, and 11.
