I like to work one on one with students in a neutral location. Small groups are not out of the question however. When I was studying engineering at University of Michigan, I took a job as a tutor at Washtenaw Community College. This was the most rewarding job I ever had. Since about the year 2000, I have been working as a freelance tutor in the subjects of math, chemistry and physics. I also tutor students in engineering courses. I generally work with college students or upper-class high school students. Normally I work in the Brighton/Howell Michigan area. I meet most students at a public library or coffee shop. My average rate is $50 per hour. This can be negotiated, however. I like to take the students ability to pay into consideration and will charge less per hour if advanced payment can be arranged.

I have experience with volunteer tutoring elementary school children through my sorority Gamma Phi Beta. I prefer tutoring in Math, Science, and Spelling as those are my specialties. As I mentioned, I have 3 younger siblings-I've been helping with homework forever, and I understand the frustrations that naturally occur when concepts seem elusive. Additionally, I am completely aware that I'm not perfect; I've taken a lot of upper level, difficult courses, and know what it's like to have trouble, sometimes with the easiest concepts.
