I have tutored my little cousins with their homework before & also in summer camp activities with kids in general! I love to help out with anything I have knowledge in. I am a god writer who loves to write and also working on a novel currently. My strongest points are composition and I am very wordy when it comes to writing. I love to read in my spare time and my favorite subject is English still. I do know some Spanish as well. Hello! I am a full time ESL teacher that really enjoys the Spanish language. I lived in Mexico for a year and a half with Mexican families where I took intensive Spanish classes. Being submerged in the language and culture is the best way to learn! I studied Spanish in Costa Rica as well as took classes in undergrad so I have a good working knowledge of the language and enjoy passing my knowledge along. I have been speaking Spanish for at least 9 years. Both of my children are Hispanic as well as my husband. I have a God given gift for languages.I took three years of Spanish in high school. I worked as a waitress at Saigon Le all through high school. That is where I began to utilize my gift of "gab".I speak a little Vietnamese also. My teaching style has always been "learner-centered". I've always checked first to see what the students' needs were and what their learning style was before I made lesson plans. I have found that if I find something the student is interested in learning and present it in a way that he/she likes, then the student is more likely to engage in the lesson. I've always used the internet as a resource to find the most creative ways of presenting otherwise boring information. I have also found that a lot of support helps the student in the long-run instead of a "sink or swim" approach. Also, the support helps with self-confidence and the student appreciates that the teacher cares and therefore the student cares about learning too.
