My style has always been to encourage questions from the student or with the many people who have worked for me over the years to challenge the status quo. I encourage individuals to stretch the envelope and to seek different solutions rather than accept what has been done before. I have also stressed that there is never a bad question or wrong to think outside the box. For example I have always asked students, "Why study history?" What I relish now,is that many respond, "To learn how we got here." Communication is the key and it is very important for the student to trust and respect the relationship that develops between student and tutor. With out this trust learning becomes very difficult.

After graduating from Central Michigan with a BS in Business, I decided to go back to school to become a science teacher. I will be certified to teach grades 7-12 in Biology and in Chemistry. I am currently finishing up my last 3 classes before I begin student teaching. In the fall I will teach classes at Eastern Michigan to prospecting elementary teachers. I have also taught several lessons at the middle school and high school level and have tutored students one-on-one.
Science is not the easiest of concepts to grasp so in order to enhance student learning I input a bit of humor into my lesson. Because there is no single path to arriving at that moment, I believe it is necessary to understand how a student best learns and then tailor my tutoring to his or her learning style.
