My comments on tutoring Elementary Math : I was a elementary special education teacher for 10 years. I helped my students in all subject areas to be successful and find their individual learning style.

I believe my patience and creativity allows children to feel comfortable with their own learning needs. I work with them and help them find their unique learning style. We then build on that style to build their confidence and ability. All children can learn once we find their unique learning "channel".
I have been a Special Education Teacher for 15 years and an administrator for 5 years. I have taught at both the elementary, intermediate and high school levels. I have worked with students who have been severely cognitively disabled and those that have had multiple attention and behavioral concerns. When teaching I try to determine the way each individual student learns best and incorporate it into my style. I utilize a lot of unique strategies such as math songs to remember mathematical principals and practices and games to engage the learner and make the learning experience memorable. When I have worked with older students this style changes a little, I maintain my excitement about the subject area, but we do a lot more practice problems.
